Hedo Turkoglu ended with 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Magic, who ended a 10-game slide in Los Angeles, beating the Los Angeles Lakers for the first time on the road since March 17, 1996. Keyon Dooling also had 14 points for Orlando, which improved to 10-2 on the road this season, winning for the fifth time in six games overall.

The Magic are 15-4 and have matched the best start in franchise history. The 1994-95 team also started 15-4.

Kobe Bryant scored 28 points, 19 coming in the first quarter, to lead the Los Angeles Lakers, who have lost two straight and five of seven. Lamar Odom added 19 points and 17 boards for Los Angeles, which also had a five-game winning streak against the Magic come to an end.

Down 93-91 after Kobe Bryant hit a turnaround jumper with 4:39 left, the Magic ran off nine straight points. Turkoglu's three-pointer began the surge, giving Orlando the lead for good with 4:22 left. Later, a Dooling dunk with 1:46 remaining capped the surge, putting the Magic ahead 100-93.

Los Angeles managed to draw within 102-97, but Odom missed a three-pointer with 22 seconds left and the Los Angeles Lakers never recovered.

Andrew Bynum had 10 points for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The game was tight throughout. Los Angeles led 30-24 after one quarter, but went into halftime down 63-55. Orlando scored just 14 third-quarter points and went into the fourth ahead just 77-75.

"We ran into a team with great shooters," said Kobe Bryant. "They executed better than we did. It was a disappointment. We thought we had it."
